Best flat-rate cards
Capital One Spark Cash Plus — best for high spenders
Unlimited 2% with no cap and no preset spending limit. The $150 fee is refunded every year you spend $150,000 or more. It's designed to be paid in full; missing the minimum on the pay-in-full balance can bring a late fee of 2.99% of the balance. It needs excellent credit (720–850) and appears on your personal credit only if you don't pay.
Amex Blue Business Cash — best 2% with no fee
2% back on the first $50,000 a year, then 1%, credited automatically to your statement. You can add up to 99 employee cards at no fee, each with its own limit and optional merchant-category restrictions. Its foreign transaction fee is 2.7%.
Chase Ink Business Unlimited — best for Chase users
1.5% on everything with no cap and $0 fee. Its real advantage: pair it with the Ink Business Preferred or a Sapphire card and your cash back can be converted to Ultimate Rewards points.
Capital One Spark Cash Select — 1.5% with no foreign fee
1.5% on everything, $0 fee, no foreign transaction fee, and free employee cards that also earn 1.5%. Note that Capital One reports this card's full activity to your personal credit.
Best category cards
Chase Ink Business Cash
5% on the first $25,000 a year in combined office supply store and internet/cable/phone purchases can return up to $1,250 a year from that tier alone. The 2% tier covers gas stations and restaurants on another $25,000. Since March 27, 2026, cash back can't go to an outside bank; you can redeem to a Chase deposit account, statement credit, travel, gift cards or shopping.
U.S. Bank Triple Cash Rewards Visa Business
3% with no cap at gas and EV charging, office supply stores, cell phone providers and restaurants, plus a $100 annual credit for recurring software subscriptions. It reports to Dun & Bradstreet, which helps build your business credit file.
Bank of America Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards
Pick a 3% category each month from gas and EV charging, office supply stores, travel, TV/telecom, computer services or business consulting, and earn 2% on dining, on the first $50,000 combined each year. Businesses with large Bank of America deposit balances can qualify for Preferred Rewards for Business, which boosts rates to up to 5.25% in the choice category.
Flat rate or categories?
Do the math with your own numbers. If a business spends $2,000 a month on internet, phone and office supplies, 5% on the Ink Business Cash returns $1,200 a year on that spending, versus $480 at 2%. If spending is spread across many vendors, a flat 2% card usually wins because most purchases would earn only 1% on a category card. Many owners carry one of each. For a deeper look, see flat-rate vs. category cash back.
How redemption works
Redemption differs more than you might expect. Amex Blue Business Cash credits your statement automatically. Chase Ink cash back can be pooled with Ultimate Rewards cards, but since March 27, 2026, Ink Business Cash rewards can't be sent to non-Chase bank accounts. Capital One Spark Cash cards earn straightforward cash back. If you don't bank with Chase, factor that in.
